Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fund development, marketing, community relations, or other related field with four or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in fundraising and development strategies
- Strong proficiency in databases and CRM software
- Experience in senior living industry preferred
Position Summary:
The Director of Development will play a crucial role in advancing Futura Age’s mission by leading and managing all aspects of our fundraising efforts. This includes developing and implementing strategic plans to meet annual fundraising goals, building and maintaining relationships with donors, and overseeing events and campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in not-for-profit development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for our mission.
Essential Duties:
- Creates and maintains an environment that translates the mission of Futura Age into fundraising actions that are conducive to the maximum well-being of the residents served.
- Ensures that department services are of appropriate quality and are consistent with Futura Age philosophical principles.
- Ensures consistent action is taken by all employees, volunteers, and visitors to comply with HIPAA security/privacy regulations regarding confidential resident records and information.
- Work to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with Futura Age’s mission and values.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.
- Identify and cultivate major gift prospects.
- Identify and cultivate corporate and foundation donors.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds
- Develop individual giving program, including:
- Building relationships with Futura Age communities, Board members and residents.
- Developing and implementing campaigns.
- Manage donation records, donor tracking, donor recognition and acknowledgements.
- Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to develop annual Board Fundraising plans.
- Manage and expand the donor base, ensuring a robust pipeline of future support.
- Analyze fundraising data and trends to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
Donor Relations and Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.
- Develop and execute donor engagement and recognition programs.
- Ensure timely and accurate donor communications, including acknowledgments and reports.
- Organize and host donor appreciation events and activities.
- As Futura Age continues to grow, the Director of Development will hire staff, set goals and expectations for team members, monitor their performance and provide feedback to ensure team success
- Work closely with the President and Board of Trustees to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Provide regular reports to the President and Board of Trustees on fundraising progress and initiatives.
- Oversee the creation of fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and online content.
- Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all donor communications.
- Engage in professional development
- Represent and attend community events and activities
- Informs potential contributors of designated needs of Futura Age subsidiaries and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, bequests and unrestricted donations.
- Maintains regular and consistent contact with donors in the database as well as work to enlarge the donor database.
- Work with grant writer to identify sources of funding for research, community service or other identified needs of Futura Age communities.
- Experience with writing gift annuities and other types of planned and deferred giving instruments (charitable trusts, bargain sales, insurance gifts)
- Advises management and staff of community relations projects, fundraising events and activities.
- Participates in internal committees as designated by the President & CEO.
- Represents Futura Age and/or its communities at professional, allied health and community organizations, promoting positive public relations.
