We are delighted to partner with a waste-to-energy company that is looking for a Mechanical Integrity Specialist to join its team.
Description: The Mechanical Integrity Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the mechanical integrity of all plant equipment, structures, and systems. This role involves leading a team of inspectors and collaborating with various departments to maintain safety, compliance, and optimal condition of the plan in accordance with applicable industry standards.
Duties:
- Develop and lead the execution of the site’s Mechanical Integrity program, in compliance with OSHA CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management standard, relevant API standards, and other applicable Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), including API 510, API 563, and API 570.
- Oversee and coordinate all inspection activities, ensuring they are performed accurately, efficiently, and safely.
- Conduct regular audits of inspection processes and procedures to verify adherence to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to address any identified issues promptly and develop corrective action plans
- Review and analyze mechanical integrity data (e.g., inspection results, equipment performance metrics) to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Oversee the site’s program for testing and maintaining pressure safety relief valves.
- Maintain thorough records of inspections, tests, and repairs to ensure full compliance with all regulatory and internal standards.
- Prepare reports on inspection findings, corrective actions, and system performance for management and regulatory bodies.
- Provide technical expertise in mechanical failure analysis and troubleshooting, especially in high-risk equipment or processes.
- Collaborate with the engineering department to design, upgrade, and modify refinery systems to improve mechanical integrity.
- Lead the implementation of new technologies or practices aimed at enhancing the mechanical reliability of the refinery.
- Participate in risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) and safety audits to identify opportunities for enhancing the mechanical integrity program.
- Investigate root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Work with electrical engineers to ensure power distribution equipment is being inspected and maintained in accordance with good industry practices (e.g. dissolved gas testing in transformers, thermal imaging of switchgear, power pole inspection, etc.)
Education requirement: B.S. in engineering or API multi-certified inspector
Experience: 7-10 years of refinery or petrochemical plant experience preferred with a focus on mechanical integrity management.
Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications, such as API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), API 570 (Piping Inspector), or equivalent, are preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a refinery environment, which may include exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical integrity programs, inspection standards, and regulatory compliance requirements (API 570, API 653, ASME, OSHA, etc.).
- Strong understanding of refinery operations and associated mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies and failure analysis techniques.
Salary : $125,000 - $155,000
