Location: Nyack, NY
Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Pay Rate: $18.10/hour
Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dependable CDPAP worker to provide overnight care and support for our non-speaking adult son with autism. This position involves general oversight during nighttime hours, morning preparation, and assistance with daily routines.
About Our Son: Typing to communicate is central to his life, giving him a voice and enabling meaningful self-expression. He uses the STeP Supported Typing Program, which has been pivotal in fostering his ability to connect and engage with the world. We are seeking someone familiar with or open to training in this program, as it plays an essential role in his daily interactions and overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision during nighttime hours to ensure safety and well-being, including managing nights when the individual sleeps very little and requires redirection.
- Morning preparation, including:
- Administering and managing medications.
- Assisting with hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
- Preparing simple meals.
- Providing general oversight and support to ensure a smooth start to his day.
- Supporting and maintaining effective communication using the STeP Supported Typing Program taught by Abilis (training provided if needed).
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism or developmental differences is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with typing-to-communicate and supported typing programs is a plus; willingness to undergo training is required.
- Clean driving record and ability to drive as needed for activities.
- Energetic, patient, and compassionate personality with strong communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
