We are looking for a Chemical Handler/Unloader for our Mansfield, MA facility. In this role you will collaborate with the chemist and pour line team to safely unload hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals from various sources such as railcars, trucks, and totes. This role requires attention to detail to ensure that all chemicals are unloaded safely, correctly, and in compliance with safety protocols. In addition to unloading duties, the Chemical Unloader will assist the pour line team with production-related tasks and coordinate with the railcar service team to manage the chemical unloading process efficiently. This position reports to the Supervisor/Manager of that area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials (Future Foam policies, DOT regulations, and safe manufacturing practices).
• Conduct daily walk-around inspections to identify potential risks and ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained. Monitor chemicals during unloading to ensure they are pumped correctly and to spot any leaks or spills.
• Operate chemical pumps and related equipment to load chemicals into the appropriate tanks, ensuring that correct operating conditions are maintained. Responsible for maintaining chemical levels in bulk/small stream tanks and ensuring there is an adequate supply for production.
• Be prepared to enact and coordinate emergency response activities in case of chemical spills, leaks, or other hazards, until relieved by a supervisor or management.
• Work with railcar services to organize and manage railcars in the building. Prepare for the incoming arrival of trucks and railcars.
• Obtain and maintain certifications such as respirator and DOT certifications.
• Assist the pour line team with various tasks, including but not limited to housekeeping, scrap cutting/hauling, machine preparation, and assisting with production processes.

QUALIFICATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· High School Diploma

· 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.

· 1 years of experience in a chemical handler and/or unloader role in a manufacturing setting (Preferred).

· Knowledge and experience with chemical handling, including reading and understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS) (Preferred).

· Basic math skills for monitoring chemical levels and performing measurements.

• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate effectively with the chemist, pour line team, and railcar service team.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment. Must be flexible in assisting with tasks as needed and be a proactive contributor to team success.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure chemicals are handled and unloaded safely, maintaining proper levels, and identifying potential safety risks.
• Must be able to think critically and respond effectively to unexpected situations, such as chemical spills or equipment malfunctions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, especially when coordinating the arrival of chemicals and meeting production requirements.
• Must be open to learning new skills and responsibilities and be adaptable to changes in procedures or work environment.
• Reliable and punctual, able to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks on time.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude even in challenging situations, contributing to a supportive work environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills and responsibilities as necessary.
• Able to work occasional overtime, including weekends, as required.
• Must possess previous current certifications and/or pass the training and certifications for:
• Department of Transportation Certification
• Respirator Certification
• Forklift Certified
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
