We are in search of a Maintenance Technician for our plant in Newton, KS. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position will be responsible for performing all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment in support of the daily production floor operations. This is a hands on maintenance position that offers a challenging work environment where outstanding problem-solving skills, exceptional communication and organizational skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge regarding the following areas: PLC’s, Electrical controls, Mechanical, Pneumatics, and Hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
· Installs, repairs, adjusts and monitors the operation of all plant production and facilities equipment as assigned.
· Performs detailed maintenance or other duties as assigned by department supervisor in all areas of equipment.
· Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, automation, software and hydraulic systems using equipment specifications, blue prints, etc.
· Requisitions repair and/or replacement parts and supplies as needed and keeps accurate records.
· Utilize strong automation background and problem-solving skills to design, modify and debug existing and new equipment.
· Work in a safe manner with all plant equipment. Keep work and department areas clean and organized.
· Maintain manufacturing process and machine documentation.
· Responsible for maintaining high efficiency and maintenance on our equipment such as electrical saw, CNC machines, cutting and compressing equipment, packaging machine, building facilities and others.
· Remain current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
· Ensure corporate policies and standards are followed in both capital project implementation as well as daily maintenance operation.
· Conducting preventive maintenance programs to ensure production systems, utilities, and grounds are always in good working condition.
· Provide assistance to team members when troubleshooting machines / system problems.
· Maintain an environmental awareness and complete required training regarding all safety environmental factors in and around the facility. Monitor for work conditions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, shoes, respirators and back braces as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing / industrial plants.
· Formal training and practical experience in an industrial setting as an Industrial Electrician or Industrial Maintenance Technician.
· Associates Degree in Electrical/Mechanical (preferred).
· Experience in Electrical, Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Mechanical or relevant field.
· Light machining and welding skills.
· Must demonstrate technical knowledge in mechanical and electrical areas.
· Capable of troubleshooting machines or systems.
· Must be able to read drawings, prints and understand technical specifications.
· Experience in quoting / purchasing components and services (preferred).
· Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
· Effective problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer based applications
· Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Possess the following skills: organization, prioritization and attention to detail.
