We are seeking an experienced CAM Consultant to assist in optimizing our CNC programming and machining workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), CNC programming, and machining processes. You will be responsible for evaluating and refining our CNC setup, developing efficient toolpath strategies, and consulting on best practices for machining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and assist with CAM processes specific to CNC routers, with a focus on the ShopSabre IS408.
- Collaborate with designers and artists to translate CAD models into CAM-ready files for CNC machining.
- Generate, optimize, and review toolpaths and G-code for precision machining using software such as Fusion 360, RhinoCAM, or Mastercam.
- Assist in the set up and configuration of the ShopSabre IS408, including material placement, tool changes, zeroing, and calibration.
- Troubleshoot CNC machine operations, ensuring accurate cuts and high-quality production.
- Maintain detailed records of machine settings, tool usage, and project details for future reference and optimization.
- Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines and contribute to the successful execution of creative projects.
Requirements:
- Experience operating CNC routers, particularly the ShopSabre IS408 or similar machines.
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, RhinoCAM, Mastercam) and familiarity with G-code generation.
- Strong knowledge of toolpath strategies, cutting tools, and material behavior for CNC operations.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to CNC machine operations.
- Understanding of shop safety protocols and best practices for CNC machining environments.
Preferred Skills (Not Required, but a Plus):
- Background in fabrication, set design, or fine arts projects involving CNC machining.
- Knowledge of advanced CNC techniques
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
