Job Title: Teacher
Reports to: Center Director
Location: Future Leaders of Excellence Academy
Employment Type: Full-Time and Part-Time
Job Summary
The Teacher will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 6 weeks-6 years. This role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, promoting physical, emotional, and social development, and fostering a love of learning. The Toddler Teacher will work closely with parents and other staff to ensure each child receives high-quality care and education in alignment with the mission and values of the academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Childcare and Supervision:
- Supervise and monitor toddlers in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development, such as circle time, story time arts and crafts, and outdoor play.
- Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
- Implement a curriculum that supports early learning milestones, social-emotional development, and cognitive skills.
- Prepare lesson plans and activities aligned with the academy's philosophy and early childhood best practices.
- Parent Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents and caregivers, providing daily updates on their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns.
- Utilize tools such as the Tadpoles app to share photos, notes, and important information about each child's day.
- Classroom Environment:
- Create and maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment that fosters learning and exploration.
- Follow the center's cleanliness and hygiene standards to ensure a safe space for both children and staff.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, assistants, and staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Health and Safety:
- Follow all center policies and procedures related to health, safety, and hygiene, including supervising the children during meals, naptime, and toileting.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents or injuries to the center director.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or equivalent experience.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience:
- Experience with children in a licensed childcare facility preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience implementing curriculum and working in an early childhood setting preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development, particularly toddler milestones.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build relationships with parents, children, and staff.
- Patience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to each child’s unique needs.
- Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
Work Environment
The Teacher will work in a dynamic and interactive environment, managing a classroom of young children with diverse needs. The position involves physical activity, including lifting children, bending, and standing for extended periods.
