Future Leaders of Excellence Academy (FLOE Academy)
Position Title: Teacher
Line of Authority: The Teacher is accountable to the Assistant Director and the Director.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Sets up learning centers for students, making sure that the environment is safe and setting up their classroom to reflect the lessons being taught.
- Works with the Director and/or Assistant Director to create a program that addresses the specific needs of the children assigned to the incumbents’ care. This curriculum is responsible for fulfilling the children's educational, developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs.
- Supervises assistant teachers and volunteers
- Develops both long- and short-term lesson plans based on the curriculum and philosophy of the daycare center.
- Assesses the developmental growth of the children.
- Detailed record keeping of children’s development.
- Continuous communication with parents. Providing constant feedback and up to date status reports in reference to the specific topics.
- Maintains records such as attendance, behavior, and other relevant document or information necessary.
- Reports anything out of the ordinary and or any items that poses a health and safety hazard, and relays it to the appropriate staff member. (e.g. suspicious individuals on property)
- Communicates any suspected cases of child abuse to the appropriate authorities, keeping the files/records of the reported abuse and the response of the investigator.
- Ensures enough supplies and materials needed for the classrooms are being accounted for and maintained.
- Guarantees continuous education according to FLOE Academy policies in accordance with state regulations.
- Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families, with respect for culture, diversity and ethnicity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- CDA preferred but not required.
- Must be willing to further your education in early childhood education or development.
- Experience preferred but not required.
- Valid certification in CPR, pediatric, and adult first aid every two years.
- Yearly Child abuse training.
- Mandated trainings required by the FLOE Academy annually in accordance with the state regulations.
- Able to perform duties in an active environment with changes in climate and noise level.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Must be vigilant about the health and safety of the children in the classrooms.
- Ability to notice anything out of the ordinary and or any items that poses a health and safety hazard.
- Must be able to work effectively under deadlines and delegate responsibilities.
- Intermediate knowledge in MS Word and MS Excel.
Physical Requirements: (To be met with or without accommodation)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Stand up to 10 hours a day
- Good manual dexterity
- Great Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to bend, twist and turn
- Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.16 - $15.00 per hour
