Marie Claire is looking for a Beauty Editor. You will be an important part of the Marie Claire team, responsible for contributing to the brand’s beauty coverage—pitching, writing, assigning, editing, and publishing a robust lineup that runs the gamut from quick news items, SEO, smart service stories to bigger long-lead projects and exciting franchises.
What you'll be doing
We’re looking for someone who’s inspired by beauty, who can cover quick news with a fresh angle but can also contextualize what’s happening in the beauty world within the larger cultural conversation. You will have endless ideas, both big and small, have experience with search engine optimization strategy, contacts within the beauty industry, and an instinct for beauty trends and talent. The Beauty Editor will be someone who lives online and knows what readers respond to and what they don’t, and someone who cares about why.
You will report to the Beauty Director and work with all departments.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
- At least 4 years writing and editing beauty content.
- Knowledge as to what drives audience engagement in digital media.
- Familiarity with and interest in making videos and other social-first content.
- Interest in women’s media, beauty, style, politics, celebrity, news, and women’s issues.
- SEO Experience
- Experience tracking real-time and long-term analytics.
- Bachelor’s degree.

This is a Hybrid role from our New York Office, working three days from the office, two from home.
