We seek a Mid-Level Drupal Architect to support a federal web project by designing and implementing scalable, high-performance Drupal solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Drupal development, architecture, and integrations , ensuring the platform aligns with federal security, accessibility, and compliance standards. The candidate will work closely with technical teams, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver efficient and secure Drupal-based web applications. Key Responsibilities : Technical Architecture & Development Design and develop Drupal architectures to meet project requirements and federal compliance standards. Lead team in researching and debugging existing issues. Develop and customize new and existing Drupal (10 / 11) modules, ensuring adherence to security best practices. Plan and optimize system performance, scalability, and maintainability. Select and configure appropriate Drupal modules to support and project goals. Collaborate with project managers to design and estimate project timelines. Collaboration & Leadership Work alongside developers, designers, and project managers to guide technical decision-making. Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and enforce best practices. Assist in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Agile development workflows. Technical Decision-Making & Compliance Assess and implement emerging Drupal technologies and best practices. Ensure compliance with federal web accessibility (Section 508), security (FISMA), and performance standards. Provide technical recommendations for integrations, APIs, and third-party tools. Documentation & Stakeholder Communication Create detailed technical documentation for system architecture, development guidelines, and project decisions. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders , translating complex concepts into actionable insights. Required Qualifications : 3-5 years of experience in Drupal development and architecture . Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript , and Drupal theming. Experience with Drupal module development, API integrations, and security best practices . Understanding of federal compliance standards , including Section 508, FISMA, and FedRAMP . Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in a DevSecOps environment. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills . Preferred Qualifications : Experience working on government web applications or federal contracts. Knowledge of Acquia, Pantheon, or other Drupal hosting platforms . Experience with CI / CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based infrastructures . Drupal certification(s) (e.g., Acquia Certified Drupal Developer / Architect).
