Job Summary
Future Stars Summer Camps has ran for 45 years in the Westchester area. Based at Purchase College, NY, this job requires a qualified and experienced health professional to lead all health practices during the summer months.
The Health Director is responsible for overseeing the overall operation and management of the health office. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing health and safety practices that will help to prevent injury/illness at camp as well as treat them. The Camp Director will work closely with staff, students, and parents to ensure a safe, engaging, and enriching environment that aligns with the camp's mission.
Duties
- Develop clear and methodical everyday practices that help to maintain the health and safety of staff and campers onsite.
- Maintain an inventory of first aid supplies both before and during the summer.
- Communicate effectively with parents and families throughout the summer on all aspects of health in regards to the camp.
- Supervise camp staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective program delivery.
- Work closely with the main office and leadership team at Future Stars.
- Manage daily operations of the health office, including treating injuries and illnesses, keeping records, maintaining equipment.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback from campers, staff, and parents to make necessary improvements.
- Ensure that all camp policies are adhered to by staff and campers.
Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent in nursing, emergency medical related healthcare field is preferred.
- Experience working with students in a healthcare setting or camp environment is preferred.
- Certifications in CPR/First Aid, additional certification in EMT, CNA, RN are highly desired.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and stay calm in potentially stressful situations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with campers, staff, and parents.
- Passion for educating youth and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- A commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all campers.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,300.00 per week
