We have a Sr. Staff Accountant position available in the North Michigan area in the automotive manufacturing industry. Responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to the following:
- Record journal entries and conduct analysis of general ledger accounts
- Maintain and review cost standards, reviews inventory variance reports and manufacturing absorption analysis reports.
- Responsible for cost and inventory accounting of the division by collecting, tracking, calculating cost information and BOM and Routing reviews.
- Maintain GL system, including user security, chart of account maintenance
- Interface with Corporate analysts and specialists.
- Responsible for tracking scrap and scrap reconciliation.
- Perform OneStream upload and generate reports.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial and statistical reports, as well as developing reporting enhancements and other financial reports as required.
- Stay up to date on operational performance developments to understand the impact on financial forecasts.
- Identify operational issues affecting forecast and financial reporting.
- Investigate anomalies such as pricing discrepancies, forecast vs. actual variances.
- Assist in special projects as they arise.
- Property, Sales and Use Tax.
- Insurance surveys, claim filing, certificate requests.
- Year End Audit Preparation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with accounting emphasis.
- Minimum of three years in accounting.
- Experience preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Needs to have a solid understanding of AR, AP, Cash, Fixed Asset, Cost Accounting and General Ledger transactions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A team player, with a strong work ethic.
- Pays close attention to detail and possess excellent organization skills.
- Must demonstrate initiative, job ownership, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Possess a desire to improve processes and a willingness to participate in continuous improvement.

- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications; Advance knowledge of Excel required.
