Responsibilities :
- Manage daily operations of assigned unit to ensure quality service in accordance with facility policy and State and Federal regulations
- Prepares and submit staffing plans of hours of duty to Director of Nursing for review and approval
- Coordinate duties of nursing personnel based on resident care needs, available staff and unit needs
- Establishes nursing infection prevention and control policies and procedures
- Promotes inter-professional teamwork in care delivery for residents
- Performs daily rounds evaluating care rendered and supervising staff
- Attends week interdisciplinary conferences and provides input to the residents plan of care
- Participates in annual budget process by identifying staff and equipment needs for the next fiscal year
- Adheres to the standards of FutureCares code of ethics and compliance plan
- Assist with interviewing applicants for open nursing positions
- Counsel nursing staff on deficiencies in performance and attendance
- Assist with orienting new nursing staff and observe / monitor performance to identify areas for improvement
- Identify unsafe or incorrect practices of nursing staff and institute corrective action
- Review all unit incidents and initiate investigation of questionable issues
- Monitor the relevance, accuracy and completeness of information recorded in the residents medical record
- Serves as a role model for the nursing unit and demonstrate clinical competency in care of residents
- Maintains and improves clinical knowledge base and skills to remain current in practical standards
Qualifications :
Must hold an active Registered Nurse license issued in the state of Maryland
Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or related field strongly preferred
Minimum of 3 years Progressive experience in an acute or long-term care facility
Must have proven leadership abilities and supervisory experience
Must possess a current CPR license
