About Connections Central Program:
The program calendar is dynamic and includes opportunities for social/recreational activities; personal connections; volunteerism; advocacy and self-expression; health and wellness; and independent living skills, among many other opportunities.
We are seeking compassionate a Community Support Professional who would take our participants on a journey of self-discovery and explore community connections.
Essential Functions and Duties:
We are seeking for a compassionate and resourceful “Community Support Professional” who will not only support the participants in their quest for a better life, but to be the courageous advocate who will encourage them beyond their fears, to make them believe in their abilities and capabilities and stand by them as they face every hurdle in the pursuit of a rigorous academic training to achieve an education, the winning ticket to enjoy a productive and meaningful life.
To supplement your experiences, you will be given appropriate training to serve the clients assigned in your care. This job is for a champion, for they will look up to their mentor to make things happen, through self-advocacy in pursuit of job skills towards employment, vocation, and independence.
Special Qualifications:
As the “Community Support Professional” your main role is to support the participants to have a positive experience within the program. As such, you must have the proficiencies and work experience as required:
- Be a positive role model not only to the participants but to your team members, and the community.
- As an CSP, you must take ownership of your duties and responsibilities.
- Possess good organizational and record-keeping skills to be a good role model to the students, able to prioritize work to meet deadlines, work independently and have some flexibility to adapt to changes.
- Be open to work in the evenings and weekends for participant support, meetings, and community events – if needed.
- Ability to analyze problems, situations, and alternatives to make effective decisions.
- Be the relentless mentor in the pursuit of the participants’ educational growth and development.
- Comply with the Dependent Adult and Elder Abuse Requirements as stipulated by law.
Job Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in U.S.
- High school diploma
- Four (4) years or more of related work experience, preferably with a human service agency or educational organization working with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities, will be considered in lieu of the educational requirements.
- To drive participants in a company vehicle (if available) or personal vehicle (mileage will be paid), must possess a valid CA driver’s license, clear DMV record and provide evidence of current auto insurance.
- Knowledgeable of computers and software use, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite Workplace.
- LiveScan criminal record clearance (or exemption) prior to start.
- Health Screening and TB Test clearance. Not more than 1 year prior to employment.
- Physical stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively.
Great if you have:
- Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
