Job Summary: The Billing Specialist will be responsible for submitting claims directly to insurance companies as well as patient billing. This position will align with VOB in order to meet full time employee hours.
Job Duties and Competencies:
- Monitor accounts on daily basis
- Identify outstanding account receivables
- Investigate historical data for debts and bills
- Take actions in order to encourage timely payments
- Process payments and refunds
- Resolve billing issues
- Resolve customer credit issues
- Contact clients’ insurance companies and discuss their overdue payments
- Update account status records
- Prepare and present reports on collection activities and progress
- VOB assistance may be required
- Maintains confidentiality of all information and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
- Adheres to facility standard concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures
- Attends in-service training when necessary
- Attitude demonstrates a positive approach and commitment reflecting professionalism and ethical standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
- At least 1 year experience in Medical/Behavioral Health Collections
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer/client focus
- Strong organizational skills
