Project Manager – Water & Wastewater Construction
Job Description :
The Project Manager will oversee all phases of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including estimating, proposals, preconstruction, construction, inspections, and project turnover. This role requires a highly organized, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated to exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage all aspects of water and wastewater construction projects, from initial planning to completion.
- Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, safety compliance, and quality assurance.
- Coordinate and oversee internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Develop and maintain Primavera P6 work breakdown structures (WBS), baseline schedules, and project milestones, tracking progress and mitigating potential delays.
- Prepare monthly schedule updates, progress reports, written narratives, and recovery plans as needed.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, tracking costs, reviewing estimates, and processing change orders as necessary.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and services while maintaining compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify quality, and address safety concerns.
Qualifications :
Minimum 7 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in heavy civil water and wastewater projects, including :Water distribution and transmission pipelines
Sanitary sewer and stormwater collection systemsWater, stormwater, and wastewater treatment systemsWater, stormwater, and wastewater pump stationsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.PMP certification is a plus.Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.Strong knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, equipment, and regulatory requirements.Technical Skills :
Proficiency in Primavera P6, Procore, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment used in water and wastewater projects.Business Acumen :
Experience with bids, construction contracts, change orders, and claims management.Strong background in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial reporting.Ability to monitor project expenses, identify cost overruns, and implement corrective actions.Safety & Quality Assurance :
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.Commitment to safety compliance and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control (QA / QC) principles, ensuring all project work meets or exceeds required standards.Additional Responsibilities :
Prepare and distribute project documentation, including meeting minutes, reports, and financial statements.Act as the primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and subcontractors, facilitating collaboration.Proactively identify and resolve project issues, risks, and conflicts.Implement and enforce company safety and quality management programs.Preconstruction & Planning :
Assist with materials selection, permitting, and subcontractor procurement.Develop and refine project estimates and formal bids based on plans and specifications.Prepare and submit proposals, ensuring they align with client requirements and competitive industry standards.Contract Administration & Subcontractor Management :
Negotiate and administer subcontractor and vendor contracts, ensuring clear scope of work, pricing, and deadlines.Review and approve subcontractor invoices and payments.Monitor subcontractor performance and address any issues or deviations.Issue and manage change orders in compliance with project requirements.Financial Management & Reporting :
Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.Prepare and maintain financial reports, including budget-to-actual comparisons and cash flow projections.Communicate financial updates to key stakeholders, including management and clients.Additional Expectations :
Stay up to date with industry regulations, trends, and best practices in water and wastewater construction.Foster a collaborative work environment and contribute to process improvements.Travel as required to job sites.Compensation & Benefits :
