Position : Product Development & Innovation Engineer

Position Status : Full-time, Salary-Exempt

Reports To : SVP of Technology Innovation and Quality

Location : Green Bay, WI. / De Pere, WI.

Position Summary :

FyterTech Nonwovens is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Development & Innovation Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in driving innovation, enhancing the quality of our products, and supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop new products, improve existing ones, and ensure that our offerings meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and sustainability.

Keys to Success :

New Product Development :

  • Lead the development of innovative nonwoven products from concept to commercialization following FyterTech’s Stage-Gate process.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and potential areas for product innovation.
  • Participate in biweekly Stage-Gate Product Development Meetings
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams to design, prototype, and test new products.
  • Collaborate with customer service to ensure key feedback from customers and end-users – besides the complaints (CASE), is captured / actively solicited and translated into any viable new products opportunities.
  • Utilize advanced materials and processes to create products that are both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Product Innovation :

  • Drive the continuous improvement of existing products by incorporating new technologies, materials, and processes.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance product performance, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products to ensure FyterTech remains at the forefront of the nonwovens industry.
  • Quality Improvement :

  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement quality control procedures that ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Analyze production processes and identify areas where quality can be improved, reducing defects and increasing product reliability.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality issues that arise during production.
  • Process Optimization :

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and enhance product consistency.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, ensuring all procedures are clearly defined and followed.
  • Sustainability Initiatives :

  • Integrate sustainable practices into product development, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of our products.
  • Explore the use of recycled and bio-based materials in new product designs.
  • Support the company’s sustainability goals by developing products that meet or exceed environmental standards.
  • Project Management :

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to management on project status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Collaborative Culture :

  • Organized, analytical, creative, and adaptive in your approach to selling and problem solving.

  • What we Value :

    Education : Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field. A master’s degree or higher is preferred.

    Experience : 2 - 5 years of experience in product development, innovation, or quality engineering within the nonwovens, plastics, polymers, consumer or industrial products or related industry.

    Technical Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of nonwoven materials, processes, and applications.
  • Microsoft Office 365 – PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Power BI, CRM
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
  • Experience with quality control methods and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of Statistical and AI tools

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :

  • This position will require travel between the Green Bay and De Pere, WI facilities and potentially minimal travel external.
  • Ability to climb, walk, do light lifting, sit for extended periods, or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
