Job Title : Mechanic and Yard Supervisor

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for safety, team development, and efficient operations? We are seeking a Yard and Fleet Operations Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing our yard and fleet management functions, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. You will play a key part in coordinating yard activities, managing fleet maintenance, and fostering a positive, productive environment for our team. Pay : $50,000 - $75,000 with an Associate Bonus Program

Schedule : Monday through Friday

Job Summary :

The VMF / Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance and yard operations, coordinating equipment repairs, supervising yard personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role involves direct collaboration with Fleet, Transportation, and Warehouse Managers to optimize workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation across both departments.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Fleet Management and Maintenance :

Ensure all fleet equipment is properly maintained for safety and efficiency.

Work with the Fleet Manager to secure repair quotes and handle transportation of damaged fleet equipment.

Assign and oversee daily tasks for mechanics, monitor repairs, and manage parts procurement.

Assist in tracking preventive maintenance (PM) and compliance documentation.

Maintain cleanliness of mechanic work areas and wash bays.

Yard Operations and Supervision :

Oversee daily yard functions, including the movement, washing, and positioning of equipment.

Coordinate with the Yard and Upward Driving Teams for smooth workflow and task assignment.

Manage timekeeping, attendance, and scheduling, including PTO, for yard personnel.

Utilize yard management system (Power Yard) to track equipment and collaborate with NCR for data management.

Leadership and Team Development :

Create a positive team environment with open communication, fostering motivation and performance recognition.

Set team goals, delegate tasks, and provide coaching to develop team members’ skills.

Conduct training sessions for new drivers, emphasizing safety practices and compliance with regulations.

Address personnel concerns, including disciplinary actions, in coordination with management.

Safety and Compliance :

Enforce safety regulations and maintain equipment according to FMCSA, DOT, and SQF standards.

Understand and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and all food safety and quality protocols.

Ensure adherence to policies regarding product traceability, incident management, and equipment calibration.

Reporting and Documentation :

Prepare reports on yard and fleet activities, including metrics on equipment, repairs, and team performance.

Assist in creating and maintaining documentation related to employee performance, safety incidents, and maintenance records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Required :

Strong understanding of transportation, yard operations, and fleet maintenance.

Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and SQF standards.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and motivate team members.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email programs, and willingness to learn other software.

Customer service skills and effective communication with various departments.

Qualifications :

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience in fleet, yard, or logistics supervision preferred

A valid CDL-A license is a plus
