The Trim Machine Technician II is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated trimming machines used in the post-harvest processing of cannabis plants. This role ensures that trimming operations are conducted efficiently, adhering to quality and safety standards. The technician will also assist in optimizing machine performance and training junior technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate automated trimming machines such as Mobius M108S to process harvested cannabis plants efficiently.
- Adjust and calibrate machine settings to ensure consistent and optimal trimming quality and output.
- Monitor machine performance during operation, making real-time adjustments as necessary.
- Produce specified trimmed product to Management
- Report any discrepancies in trimming quality to supervisor
- Bag product and document results with accuracy
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance activities, and production output.
- Ensure all trimming operations comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist in preparing for and participating in audits and inspections.
- Ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of Mobius equipment
- Identify opportunities to improve trimming efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement process improvements and share best practices with the team.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety checks and report any hazards or incidents immediately.
- Participate in safety training sessions and drills.
- Train junior technicians and other staff on the proper operation and maintenance of trimming machines.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in operating and maintaining automated trimming machines or similar equipment in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on attention to detail, quality and organization skills.
- Ability to work collectively and respectfully both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support post-production operations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check as required by state regulations.
Work Environment
- Operations: This position will work in an indoor manufacturing facility with controlled temperatures; may be exposed to bright lighting, loud equipment, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and working in proximity with staff and vendors.
- May be exposed to elevated temperatures, high humidity, and artificial lighting for extended periods.
- Use of fertilizers, nutrients and pest management solutions may expose employees to chemicals and organic substances. Proper safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), are essential to minimize exposure risks.
- May be exposed to moderate to high levels of noise as Cultivation facilities may contain equipment such as fans, pumps, and ventilation systems.
Job Requirements
- Work revolves around objectives, projects, and priorities, not hours; must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), verbal directives, training information, and policies when performing duties
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift, sit, and bend for a majority of their work schedule.
- Must be able to work in other locations. (between suites)
- Ability to use a computer and calculator for 8 hours or more.
- Required to have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving history. Must have own transportation.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
