Job Overview

G&H Construction Services, a General Contracting firm with over 20 years of government, commercial and residential experience, is searching for talent to fill a term position as Superintendent at Ft. Dietrick U.S. Army Facility, Frederick, MD. This position will oversee an HVAC Replacement project. The superintendent will act as the primary point of contact on-site, coordinating with various stakeholders including contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. This position ensures the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Compensation: $50-75 per hour - based on experience and education
  • Project Term: 5 months
  • Estimated Start Date: April 15, 2025

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Coordination
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and work timelines.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to interpret design specifications and requirements.
  • Ensure that all permits, licenses, and inspections are obtained and conducted as required.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to the job site.
  • Establish work priorities and allocate resources efficiently to meet project deadlines.

On-Site Management

  • Oversee daily operations on the construction site to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of construction workers, subcontractors, and other personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including daily logs, time sheets, and progress reports.

Safety and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Quality Control

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of work performed, ensuring it meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify the integrity and functionality of structures and systems.
  • Address any deficiencies or defects promptly and ensure corrective measures are implemented.

Communication and Reporting

  • Maintain open and effective communication with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, including progress, budget, and any potential issues and proposed resolutions.
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports, including cost estimates, change orders, and project documentation.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Years of experience, certifications and other management skills may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • OSHA certification.
  • Proven experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practices.
  • Must be able to pass a government facility background check.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments typical of a construction site.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move around the site for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment, as needed.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
