Job Summary

Responsible for assisting in a variety of warehouse duties, including shipping and receiving, unloading, and loading trucks, fulfilling material requisitions, maintaining warehouse inventory with correct material levels and delivery of material.

KEY INTERACTIONS

G&H employees to include executive leadership, managers, mariners, office staff, industry associates, and outside vendors

Job Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within the warehouse and engineering when requested
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and executing repairs under the guidance of senior mechanics
  • Be customer-focused and support the mission and goals of G&H Towing
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with supervisors and coworkers

  • Complete deliveries by driving trucks/vans to docks, placing orders in material lockers, and processing delivery tickets
  • Conduct weekly cycle counts and investigate discrepancies
  • Contribute to team goals and related tasks as needed
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, time management, and planning skills
  • Ensure that all mechanical and warehouse equipment is in good working condition by performing routine checks and identifying any issues
  • Ensure a safe, clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and workstations organized and adhering to procedures
  • Ensure effective communication, professionalism, and dependability
  • Follow oral and written instructions accurately and work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and update stock locations
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and workshop, ensuring safety standards are met, including adherence to OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage multiple demands while upholding service standards.
  • Manage coordination, organization, and planning, handle documents like bills of lading, shipping invoices, or delivery notes
  • Oversee inventory control, documentation, and equipment maintenance
  • Perform inventory controls to maintain quality standards for audits
  • Perform routine maintenance on warehouse equipment and machinery to minimize downtime
  • Prepare orders by processing material requests, pulling materials, packing, and placing orders in the shipping area
  • Provide on-the-job for new employees in both warehouse and mechanical tasks
  • Report any delivery defects
  • Support the mechanic team by assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues; escalate as needed
  • Unloading materials from trucks, checking for accuracy and verifying materials are intact
  • Willing to work overtime, including after hours, weekends, and holidays

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; extensive experience may substitute for education
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Forklift experience required
  • Proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office, web browsers, email, and internet search engines

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Active and valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to a warehouse environment and comply with OSHA standards
  • Assist in both warehouse and mechanical tasks, including shipping and receiving materials, inventory control, and supporting mechanical repairs and maintenance. Perform a variety of duties to ensure smooth warehouse operations and support the maintenance team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and escalate as needed
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate professionally and make sound judgments
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters responsibly
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining service standards
  • Service-oriented with a customer-centric approach for both internal and external clients

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work hours will be assigned based on business needs however, work hours will typically be Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. By request from the department managers or department directors within Purchasing and Warehouse or Engineering, work hours may include irregular hours to assist in completing special tasks or assignments
  • Out-of-regional travel may be required to attend training, seminars, or work-related events
  • Work will be performed in the office

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Assist the executive team when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame established by the department manager or director
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by the department manager or director as it relates to the program and position
