Job Description

Job Title: E&I Commercial Foreman

Pay Range: Up to $28/hr

Work Location: Lake Charles, LA

Schedule: 40 hrs a week with occasional overtime

Position Summary:

Directs activities of workers concerned with E&I commercial installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The Foreman can be either working or non-working, depending on the size of the crew being supervised. The Foreman must possess good communications skills, both written and verbal. He must demonstrate leadership and mentoring ability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Can demonstrate an understanding of company/ industry/occupation-specific safety standards and procedures i.e., GIE E&I Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, GIS E&I Electrical Safe Work Practices, NFPA 70 E, Lock-out/Tag-out procedures, all applicable OSHA regulations, etc.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of the principles of basic electricity and electronics.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of industry codes, standards and recommended practices.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of State and local code requirements.
• Can demonstrate the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, ladder logic diagrams, schematics, piping and instrument diagrams, pneumatic control schematics, blueprints and manuals.
• Can demonstrate the ability to identify, select and operate electrical measuring and test equipment such as ohmmeters, ammeters, meggers, screwdrivers, pliers, hacksaws, pipe threaders, conduit benders (mechanical and hydraulic), soldering guns, power tools, etc.
• Can demonstrate the ability to plan layout of electrical wiring methods, conductor and insulation selection, equipment selection and fixtures consistent with specifications, local codes and area classifications.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of the functionality of control and distribution apparatus such as switches, outlets, relays, starters, lighting and power distribution panels, etc.
• Can demonstrate proper techniques used to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduits i.e., Rigid, EMT, Plasti-Bond, IMC, PVC, etc.
• Can demonstrate the ability to properly size electrical conduits and electrical circuit conductors to be installed in the conduits.
• Can demonstrate the ability to properly layout and install electrical raceways and cable trays.
• Can demonstrate the ability to install, troubleshoot and maintain Motor Control Centers, Switchgear, batteries and battery chargers, emergency power supply systems, bus ducts, stress cones, junction boxes, etc.
• Can demonstrate proper techniques used to connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, lighting fixtures, power equipment, etc.
• Can demonstrate proper techniques used to connect power cables to equipment such as electric ranges, electric motors, motor starters, transformers and to install grounding conductors.
• Can demonstrate knowledge of equipment grounding and bonding requirements.
• Can demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair or replace malfunctioning apparatus, equipment and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, relays, switches, fuses, motors, generators, light fixtures, etc.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Can demonstrate proficiency when working with equipment operating at all voltage levels i.e., High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Licenses/Certifications:
• TWIC Card (Preferred)
• NCCR (Preferred)
• Required Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of proven experience as an Electrical Foreman or in a similar role within the electrical field.
• Strong skills in blueprint reading and understanding technical specifications.
• Proficient in the use of various power tools and hand tools related to electrical work.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices within the industry.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on complex projects.
