The Solar Quality Control Inspector is a pivotal role within solar construction projects, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing quality management and inspection work on-site, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications throughout all phases of Project Solar Construction.

Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Compliance
- Inspect solar panel installations, wiring, mounting structures, and inverters to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Verify that materials, equipment, and workmanship meet the project's quality control plan.
- Conduct inspections at different project stages (foundation, racking, panel installation, electrical work, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to NEC (National Electrical Code), IEC, OSHA, and local electrical codes.
- Perform and document continuity, insulation resistance, and grounding tests for electrical components.
- Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of solar panels and mounting systems for defects, damage, or improper installation.
- Check torque values on fasteners and structural connections.
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning of solar panels.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, punch lists, and quality assurance records.
- Log non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Ensure that work aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and permits.
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to address quality concerns.
- Communicate defects or installation issues with construction teams and track resolution.
- Participate in quality control meetings and audits.
- Identify hazards related to improper installation or faulty equipment.
- Verify that workers follow safe handling procedures for electrical and structural components.
- Assist in system testing and commissioning to verify proper operation.
- Ensure all quality records, test reports, and certifications are complete before handover.
- Support client walkthroughs and inspections for project acceptance.
- High school diploma or GED (minimum);
- Minimum of 1 year experience in in solar construction, electrical work, or solar quality inspection
- Familiarity with solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) installations
- Knowledge of Solar PV Systems – Understanding of photovoltaic components, wiring, racking systems, and inverters.
- Inspection Tools & Techniques – Ability to use multimeters, infrared cameras, torque wrenches, calipers, and other testing equipment.
- Reading Blueprints & Schematics – Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, layout drawings, and construction plans.
- Electrical & Mechanical Testing – Experience with insulation resistance tests, grounding continuity, and torque verifications.
- Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
