What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Technical Designer position at G-III Apparel Group?
The Associate Technical Designer assists the product lifecycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval. Assists during fittings on live Fit Models to assess garments and advise fit corrections to overseas teams and factories. Creates and updates Tech Packs for all product categories for brand.
Key Accountabilities:
Product Lifecycle Management: Assist with product life cycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval
Collaboration: Establish close partnership with Design team to facilitate the interpretation of Design concepts to maintain design integrity.
Fitting and Specification: Assist during fittings with live Fit Models to assess garments and advise fit corrections to overseas teams and factories. Work with the Technical Designer to create initial spec to final full graded spec. Evaluate fit to determine manufacturer has met the requirements of the garment.
Technical Specification: Assist to generate computerized technical specification packages. Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern, shape, and construction. Consult with Designers to work through complicated garment construction to establish fit; collaborate with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack.
Communication: Facilitate communication with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production; Meet with Production Team – weekly – to review sample approval status to ensure Time and Action Calendar compliance; Interact – daily – with agents, overseas offices and vendors to problem-solve all issues related to garment engineering throughout the product lifecycle
Systems: Use PLM systems; Gerber Yunique PLM or equivalent
Education and Experience:
2-5 years of Technical Design and/or Patternmaking experience on a live fit model in a SKU intensive environment, required
College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
Skills and Behaviors:
Technical skill Proficiency using Gerber Yunique PLM, WebPDM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, MS Excel, required
Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail
Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills
Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities
Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
The pay range for this position is: $31.25 per hour/$65,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week) $33.65 per hour/$70,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week)

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
