Job Objective
Set-up necessary equipment to make and/or sharpen a wide variety of complex cutting tools under the direction of more experienced tool grinders.
Essential Job Duties
- Make and/or sharpen variety of complex cutting tools, drills etc., as required to meet production needs
- Review prints, determine angles, contours and radii required to assure cutting tool perform to maximum efficiency
- Be familiar with machine feeds and speeds, tool angles and reliefs for a wide variety of materials
- Maintain records or other data as required
- Maintain area and equipment in neat, orderly condition
- Observe all company policies, rules and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security
- Provide direction and assistance to less experienced tool grinders
- Perform other duties as required
Job Specifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred and 3-5 years experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding and ability to use various inputs from different sources
- Understanding of broad scope manufacturing processes of the company
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to suggest/implement improvements
- Ability to exercise judgment about tool grinding solutions and processes regarding decision making
