What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Weld Inspector (2nd shift) position at G & W Products Inc?
G & W Products is a leader in contract metal manufacturing and fabrication. Founded in 1968, our areas of expertise include metal stamping, laser cutting, fabrication, manual and robotic welding, tool and die work, powder coating and assembly. Our modern facilities include 190,000 square feet of manufacturing space between three facilities located in Fairfield, OH. We specialize in numerous industries including construction, transportation, energy, and defense. We have an opening for a Quality Weld Inspector 2nd shift position
This role entails conducting weld inspections to ensure adherence to acceptance criteria as per customer and company specifications. In addition, this position will ensure weldments and welding-related activities comply with all applicable quality and safety standards supporting G&W’s business processes to meet company strategic goals.
These duties are to include inspecting parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring and test equipment to verify compliance with drawings and instructions. Inspections include first piece and full container inspections IAW the applicable weld code and defined criteria. This includes documenting results in G&W’s ERP system, and communicating inspection results in a complete, clear and concise manner.
Other Duties Include:
- Actively participate in G&W’s corrective action process
- Assist Manufacturing associates interpreting drawings, instructions and WPS’s to provide an understanding of the requirements of each specific job
- Support G&W's safety requirements, 5S initiatives, and consistently maintain good housekeeping duties.
- Participate in the Material Review Board to determine disposition when required for welding issues.
- Update quality documentation in Plex (ERP) as non-conformances and issues arise
Must Have:
- At least one year of experience in weld inspection is required.
- Proficient at reading weld symbols and blue-print drawings
- Capable of using measuring equipment (i.e. fillet gages, calipers, height gages, etc.)
- Understand both Metric and English units
- High moral and ethical standards
- Good problem-solving skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Nice To Have:
- Welding experience preferred
- Experience with D1.1 and Ground Combat Vehicle Welding code for aluminum and steel
- American Welding Society (AWS), Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
- Proficiency in GD&T
- Experience in quality management systems such as ISO 9001
