About the Role
G2’s Buy-Side team seek to become trusted advisors and long-term partners in growing our client’s businesses through strategic M&A initiatives. G2’s approach to buy-side advisory is strategic, tailored, flexible, and results-driven. We're building out our team to meet the demands of rapid company growth and market demand. Location: Boston, MA office location
Workplace Model: At the time of this posting, G2 currently operates in a hybrid model with 3-4 days required in the office. These in-office requirements may be adjusted based on the needs of the business.
What You'll Do
- Work as a part of a deal team to engage with new prospects (acquisition targets) for an already established book of clients
- Conduct high volume calling to engage and establish relationships with C-level executives and business owners
- Organize creative prospecting activities that generate new acquisition opportunities
- Engage with business owners and discuss the options available to them including M&A
- Build and maintain long term relationships with key stakeholders at target companies
- Manage the full M&A process with clients from initial outreach to completion of an acquisition
- Track and record metrics throughout the process utilizing internal CRM
- Meet and exceed business development goals individually and as a team
- Keep current and updated on trends impacting G2’s industry sectors
- Manage high-stakes deadlines with grace and poise, delivering top-quality work when it matters most
- Provide timely, concise updates to internal teams and clients, ensuring alignment and smooth coordination on every deal
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, staying proactive and organized to meet deadlines and keep every engagement on track

What We Look For
- 6 years of experience in buy-side M&A, corporate development; or business development (financial services, private equity, asset management)
- Experience sourcing, originating, transacting and closing corporate deals
- Experience with a sophisticated and senior client base including C-level executives, founders and investors
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build a book of business in close collaboration with transaction execution teams
- Demonstrated discipline in relationship management best practices – patient & consistent follow through with results orientation
- Strong project management skills; proven ability to tightly manage & prioritize a high-volume of activity
- Proven ability to lead and positively influence a team; desire to take on leadership as team expands Intellectual curiosity, active listening and desire to continuously improve
- Strong expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and CRMs (preferably Salesforce)
- A natural curiosity to understand how and why things work; with a drive to dig deeper and uncover the best solutions
- A strong sense of accountability and meticulous attention to detail, demonstrated by owning mistakes and seeking help when needed
- An enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated attitude; consistently approaching challenges with determination and optimism to achieve exceptional results
- A commitment to fostering collaboration by sharing knowledge, resources, ideas, and constructive feedback to build stronger teams
- A track record of acting with integrity, consistently choosing to do what’s right-even when it’s difficult or unnoticed
- Exceptional business acumen including listening, written, and oral communication skills paired with a proven ability to manage up and across diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in key client-facing roles, building and maintaining strong, productive relationships with both existing and prospective clients
