Job Description
A CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) Technician is responsible for creating detailed design plans for civil engineering projects using specialized software. Their duties include, but are not limited to, preparing technical drawings and schematics based on specifications provided by engineers and land surveyors. They ensure all designs meet industry standards and regulations, adjusting as necessary to improve accuracy and efficiency. CADD Technicians collaborate with project teams to interpret project requirements, solve design problems, and provide innovative solutions. They must possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various CAD software programs, specifically Civil 3D. Effective communication and teamwork are also essential, as they frequently liaise with other professionals to ensure project success.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Understand of project workflows to perform tasks efficiently and effectively in a timely manner.
- Understand of sheet sets and what is required with each sheet.
- Manage layers and file naming, as per company standards.
- Converting surveying layers to engineering layers.
- Perform research, documentation and drafting tasks of engineering data as requested by supervisors.
- Maintain up-to-date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications.
- Understand and address internal red lines produced by supervisors.
- Trouble shooting Civil 3D issues (i.e. structures or pipes showing on profiles, relinking data references, etc.).
- Work on labeling sheets, line work, site data tables, and details.
Qualifications
- Associate degree and / or AutoCAD Certification.
- 2 – 3 years of professional experience is required.
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD software is required.
- Proficient knowledge of Civil 3D software is required.
- An understanding of CAD surfaces and layers, survey points, pen tables, etc. is preferred.
- Layer and file management experience is a plus.
