The Survey Crew Chief provides leadership and direction to a survey team focused on successfully gathering information for projects. Additionally, the Survey Crew Chief maintains communication with the Professional Land Surveyor, Survey Project Managers and Civil Project Managers to ensure the scope of the field work is clearly defined and all necessary information is obtained.

Responsibilities
- Knowledge and full understanding of field staking procedures for land surveying, construction staking, and existing conditions survey.
- Knowledge of advanced data collector functions; apply coordinate transformations, edit/process raw data files, transfer files using serial cable, USB, wi-fi, and cellular connections, enter/edit road data.
- Knowledge of RTK GPS survey; configure geodetic settings, initiate survey, calibrate to an existing site, establish state plane coordinates, establish elevations.
- Knowledge of tree/topographic surveys; determine amount of detail needed, identify and shoot break lines correctly, code line work correctly, identify trees, establish and verify site benchmarks.
- Knowledge of field work related to the finished design and the scope of the projects to limit scope and inform office of additional request.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff.
- Strong ability to multi-task.
- Ability to resolve conflicts that may arise while on the job site.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes and construction codes.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
- 1-3 years of Land Surveying experience required.
- Prior experience leading and managing a survey crew.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience of working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Willing to pursue related education and training for ongoing job performance improvement.
- Time management skills and efficiently prioritize and execute tasks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
