Senior Project Engineer - Controls and Automation

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking Engineers to join our growing team. The role is designed to leverage a variety of engineering backgrounds, including but not limited to Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Programming. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects and be placed in a role that best suits their skills and the needs of G6 Engineering. We value a multidisciplinary approach, and we are open to hiring candidates with various levels of education and experience. You will apply your expertise while expanding your skills into other areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Controls Engineering:

• Design and develop control systems including PLC, HMI, and SCADA.
• Integrate vision-guided robotics and motion control systems
• Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment related to electrical design or programming.
• Analyze system requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct testing and validation of engineering solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Project Management:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement engineering solutions.
• Program and troubleshoot control systems, PLCs, and automation software.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related interactions with customers.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with project methodologies and deliverables.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients.
• Document processes, specifications, and procedures related to engineering projects.

Customer Relations:

• Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Address customer needs through effective problem-solving and technical solutions.
• Prepare proposal estimates and provide input during sales meetings.

Innovation and Support:

• Stay updated on the latest technology trends and contribute ideas for new products.
• Collaborate in R&D initiatives and assist in market research.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in controls engineering, automation, electrical engineering, or other relevant programming is preferred. (i.e. ladder logic, FBD, visual basic, SQL, or other structured text scripting environment)
• Familiarity with standards such as NEC, UL, NFPA, IEEE, CSA, and CE.
• Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, particularly with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens products.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational capabilities.
• A customer-focused mindset.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software and programming languages[SJ1] .
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
• Ability to form good working relationships and lead the client to good decisions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Travel is estimated to be less than 25%.
• P.E. license is not required but is considered a valuable credential.
