GA Foods is seeking a skilled Transportation Manager - Food Service for our St Petersburg, FL, location.
The Transportation Manager will manage the fleet of box trucks/vans and associated drivers at the assigned unit. The ideal candidate will possess 2-3 years of experience supervising a fleet of delivery vehicles and will be interested in joining a team that makes a difference in people's lives. Our fleet delivers to those in need in the senior and child nutrition population. Empathy for this population is essential to the success of this role. There may be occasional local or region travel. Our normal operations are Monday-Friday.
Essential Responsibilities:
including but not limited to:
- Track all M&R for vehicles, ensuring trucks are being serviced as required.
- Overseeing the Maintenance Program which will include:
- Entering Invoices from NAV, and monitoring our Truck Maintenance App in our ERP system
- Ensuring cost efficient repairs for the Fleet
- Monitoring fuel usage for misuse of WEX card
- Reviewing M&R averages for each piece of Equipment
- Contesting Erroneous Charges with Vendors
- Negotiating Prices for Services with Vendors
- Tag and Insurance Renewals for every moving piece of equipment
- Ordering new trucks and outfit them with the necessary peripheral components that are needed to complete its assigned route needs
- Selling trucks
- Route Efficiency:
- Hot Routes and Home-Delivered Meals (HDM)
- Continual Monitoring and Reshaping of Routes as they expand/wither

Ensuring all data bases are kept current and up to date. Some examples of what this would be:
- Logging truck maintenance
- Upkeep of all route information
- Initialize, maintain and archive the driver/truck data bases with related information pertinent to their jobs across "the System"
- Assisting in the Acquisition of Rentals when our Trucks go Down
- Accidents- Managing Estimates, Processing Deductibles, Interfacing with our Insurance Co. and Vendors, Tracking Repairs
- Oversee routing and efficiencies of distribution network; Ensure DOT compliance and maintain required recordkeeping; Oversee and provide support with production and other operations as needed; Oversee and start up special programs/projects as required; Ensure food safety and other compliance/regulatory; Oversee fleet maintenance; Other duties assigned by management.
- Constantly train and coach our drivers on proper loading of meals and components
- Train and mentor staff of drivers and 1 customer service representative
- Monitor positive and negative driving habits using GPS Insight
- Drive routes as needed
- DOT compliance/recordkeeping
- Promotes and advocates for employee and fleet safety
- Communication with customer service regarding customer/delivery issue
- A.S. in Logistics/Transportation or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Valid Class D Driver's License (0-4 current pts., no DUI, good driving record)
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate or ability to obtain one (CFR Title 49, Part 391.41)
