Within our Inventory Appraisal practice, our valuation work is a key piece of diligence helping financial institutions prepare asset-based loans for a variety of companies within a broad range of industries, including Retail and Consumer Products, Food, Wine and Spirits, Metals, Energy, Building Products, and Automotive, among others.
Over a 10-week internship, the Financial Analyst Intern will learn and perform the basic functions of GA Group’s Financial Analyst role . The intern will end the internship with an overall understanding of what the Financial Analyst role entails and how it supports the project team and the overall appraisal process.
This is a hybrid position reporting to GA’s local office locations (Needham, MA, Chicago, Dallas, Westlake, CA). The following description outlines what a Financial Analyst is responsible for as part of a team at GA Group.
Financial Analyst Job Description
The Financial Analyst's primary role is to provide analytical support to a project team through work on multiple appraisal assignments each month ensuring project deadlines are met. Each inventory appraisal provides GA Group's clients with a valuation for each subject company's inventory, based on key financial metrics, tailored to meet the requirements of the client's intended use.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following :
- Ability to assist a project leader, that handles three to four appraisals per month in a supportive role, demonstrating conceptual and technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Analyze company-provided data and perform item-level analysis to uncover historical and emerging financial trends
- Effectively set priorities and work in an organized manner while managing multiple moving deadlines
- Perform due diligence, monitoring and communicating open data items with the direct manager or project leader to ensure fulfillment of open diligence requests
- Maintain a high level of internal communication with the deal team
- Perform industry research and maintain a database of industry-specific information related to appraisal subject companies
- Gain experience in the qualitative and quantitative analytical and administrative skillsets required to transition into a project leadership role
