Employment Type: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Description: Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech - FT -Days - IMCU - St. Marry's Healthcare System, Athens, GA Position Purpose: The Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech will work in the IMCU Department at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens GA. What you will do: Monitor Technician (MT) provides ongoing observation and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. The MT monitors, recognizes, and reports cardiac arrhythmias to the Registered Nurse caring for the patient. The CMT prepares and maintains telemetry records, as well as maintains a functioning telemetry system. In addition, the MT performs various other duties related to patient cardiac monitoring and equipment maintenance, both in the central monitoring station and on the patient care units. • The Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech supports the assigned unit by facilitating communication with patients, staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments. The Unit Secretary directs incoming calls and responds to patient calls. The Unit Secretary enters physician’s orders in the Information System. The Unit Secretary maintains patient’s charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels. The Unit Secretary is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Follows Telemetry Monitoring Policy & Procedures. Reports all abnormal findings to RN immediately. Records strips per policy. What you will need: Licensure/Certification/Registration: Minimum of BLS-CPR certified Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus education components listed below Experience: • Prior experience as a Monitor Technician highly preferred. Must successfully complete a basic arrhythmia course and receive a passing grade. Must successfully complete formal ECG class and competencies • Must complete an annual arrhythmia competency and receive a passing score.
