This role involves operating and maintaining honing machines, inspecting parts for accuracy, and collaborating with the quality and engineering teams to achieve optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in honing processes, a strong understanding of aviation standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform precision honing of landing gear components according to engineering specifications and blueprints.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC honing machines, ensuring proper tooling, abrasives, and parameters are used.
- Monitor honing operations to identify any deviations and make necessary adjustments.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, profilometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure all components meet dimensional accuracy, roundness, and surface finish requirements.
- Identify and report non-conformances and collaborate with the quality team on corrective actions.
- Perform routine maintenance on honing machines and ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Work closely with the engineering and quality teams to interpret technical drawings and process specifications.
- Document machining operations, including setup parameters and inspection results.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in honing operations, preferably in the aerospace or precision manufacturing industry.
- Experience working with landing gear components is a plus.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC honing machines.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is Required.
