What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchandise Planner position at Gabe*s?
Gabe*s is seeking Planners to support the Planning and Allocation department in our New York City Corporate Office. These individuals are responsible for the creation and maintenance of financial and unit assortment plans that align to the merchandise strategy to maximize sales, profit, and turn. Planners are the financial voice of the Merchant strategy and the link between the merchandise and the customer. They will supply analysis and context to the results and help drive assortment decisions that maximize sales and the growth of the company. The Planning Team will also direct their business' allocation strategy and ensure stores are filled appropriately.
Multiple positions are currently being evaluated. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Build financial assortment plans for current and future years that interpret merchant strategy into a profitable road map by month for all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Clearly and succinctly present plans quarterly to the Executive Team in support of merchant strategy.
- Adapt in-season plans based on current performance and merchandise availability.
- Manage the Open-To-Buy with DMM partner to drive profitable sales.
- Perform and clearly communicate independent analysis to highlight important trends and recommend ways to drive profitable sales.
- Build strong partnerships with the Allocation Managers and business-specific Allocator to ensure merchant strategy and unit plans match the allocation strategy.
- Manage business-specific allocation strategies and the hold back of goods in warehouse.
- Be the voice of the customer through the interpretation of sales data and be in constant communication and collaboration with the Merchant and Allocation Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field, or equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Experience in Planning, Allocation, or Merchandising within a multi-unit, off-price retail organization preferred
- Computer proficiency with strong Microsoft Excel experience, and an aptitude for learning new software programs and applications
- Self-motivated and self-starter with analytical skill, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills, along with a willingness to learn.
- Solid grasp of retail math.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as build and maintain effective relationships with cross- functional teams.
- Demonstrated product knowledge.
- Ability to manage conflict in a professional and respectful manner.
SUPERVISION
This position directly supervises Associate Planners and Assistant Planners, and indirectly leads Allocators.
