The successful candidate will perform a variety of substantive legal duties under the supervision and direction of attorneys, supporting complex litigation cases from inception through to completion. - Organize and manage document-intensive files throughout all stages of the case.
- Conduct thorough factual investigations and interviews to identify key parties, related issues, and relevant documents for discovery preparation.
- Review and manage E-discovery for production.
- Analyze production documents to extract key information.
- Assist in preparing answers to interrogatories and responses to document production requests.
- Coordinate depositions as requested by attorneys.
- Summarize and organize depositions, records, and testimony using litigation support technology tools.
- Draft various pleadings and handle filings in both administrative and judicial branches at Federal and State levels.
- Support all aspects of case litigation and trial preparation, including identifying and marking exhibits for motions, mediation, depositions, and trials.
- Verify case citations in briefs using Westlaw for accuracy and current validity.
- Interact with government and court officials, as well as clients, in a professional manner.
- Maintain attorney calendars, ensuring all case deadlines are met.
- Provide trial assistance with exhibits, demonstrative aids, and witnesses.
- Adhere to firm policies by maintaining accurate timesheets and meeting deadlines.
- Utilize document review platforms such as Relativity, Reveal, Casepoint, and Everlaw.
- Communicate and coordinate with experts to obtain key data, reports, and supporting documents.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. A four-year college degree and a certificate in paralegal studies are preferred. Significant prior experience may substitute for a combination of the educational requirements.
- At least five years of legal experience, including experience with litigation and a proven ability to support complex litigation using current technology.
- High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with document management systems. E-filing experience required.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience using electronic resources and litigation support software.
- Excellent time management, organizational abilities, and strong proofreading skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities as outlined above, maintaining both quality and quantity of work.
- Ability to meet firm billing requirements.
- Proficiency with litigation support technology utilized in the practice area.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation and initiative.
- Dependability and strong cooperation with attorneys, clients, and other support staff.
