What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Driver/Sales position at Gabriel Valley Farms?
We are a USDA Certified Organic Wholesale Nursery. We are seeking to hire a driver to deliver our plants to various nurseries and business in a 200 mile radius. Ideally a qualified candidate would start by or around the end of January. This is a seasonal/temporary position, that offers commission pay based on sales in addition to the hourly rate.
Duties include but are not limited to: Organization and loading of delivery vehicle. Fulfilment of deliveries on route. Engaging in good customer service for clients. Adjustment of invoices to reflect changes in orders at time of delivery, involving good handwriting and light math (addition, subtraction, multiplication). Selling extra material on routes. Communicating effectively with customers and management. Weekly maintenance checks on vehicles using a checklist. Ideal candidate would assist the order fulfillment team on Mondays getting orders together.
This is a very physical job, including standing and walking for extended periods, frequent lifting, bending and flexing. It is performed both inside and outdoors in most weather.
The ideal candidate would have an availability starting at 7:30am Monday-Friday. Ending time varies by day with different routes, though is generally an 8 hour shift. Knowledge of plants is not mandatory but is helpful. Clean driving record is mandatory. Candidates with experience driving a box truck will be considered first. Work is performed inside and outdoors in most weather conditions. Vehicles are air-conditioned. Job begins by the end of January and busy season is expected to run through may, possibly longer. Could be permanent position for the right candidate. Please provide 3 work references with your application.
