JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Bilingual Mental Health Clinician provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy to children, youth, and families, delivering individual, group, and family counseling in both English and Spanish. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions to support emotional and behavioral well-being. The clinician collaborates with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care, while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to ethical and regulatory standards. A commitment to equity, inclusion, and advocacy for underserved communities is essential.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides individual and group therapy services to students and their families.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements treatment services and other clinical activities for identified clients, while being aware of cultural, ethnic, and environmental differences.
  • Facilitates psycho-educational workshops for parents and students to support healthy family functioning.
  • Increases staff capacity to implement trauma-informed and culturally-informed practices in the classroom through consultation and facilitation of professional development workshops.
  • Supports the social-emotional health of students and families by conducting home visits or phone calls and offers follow-up services to identify barriers to social and emotional functioning and help address needs in the community.
  • Maintains required case notes and documentation on services rendered.
  • Provides comprehensive case management to clients and refers families to resources that meet critical needs including food, educational opportunities, immigrants' rights, tenants' rights, and housing or clothing assistance.
  • Engages in crisis intervention with clients/family members, including developing and implementing safety plans.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of policies affecting the communities Gads Hill Center serves and facilitates advocacy initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with local organizations, leaders, and affiliates.
  • Facilitates workshops for community members on topics related to mental health.
  • Supports Associate Director in developing a mental health support structure for internal Gads Hill Center programs.
  • Provides leadership in the areas of clinical practice, education, health services, program evaluation, program development, and training.
  • Implements research and evidence-based best practices for program design, staff development, and client therapeutic services. Maintains a working knowledge of childhood education, development practices standards, and principles of applied behavioral analysis.
  • Performs record-keeping functions and other administrative duties, as required by the agency.
  • Remains on-call for crisis intervention consultation for all programs at Gads Hill Center, even after regular work hours.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field required.
  •  Must also be LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT, licensed in Illinois.
  •  Experience working with children and adolescents from 5 to 19 years of age.
  •  Advanced knowledge of and experience in the mental health treatment field.
  •   Dynamic self-starter with a passion for working with children, adolescents, and their families.
  •  Experience with multicultural programming preferred.
  •  Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  •  Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
  •  Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
