This is manual work involving a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled task in the Public Works Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist in patching holes in County roads
· Rakes leaves, trims bushes and mows grass on County property
· Cleans up litter along County roads and/or County property
· Assist in flagging traffic on public highways
· Cleans dirt, debris and underbrush from drainage ditches, pipes and right-of-way
· Occasionally erect fences along County right-of-ways
· Performs other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions; knowledge of the use and care for hand tools such as shovel, pick, rake, axe and lawnmower. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Willingness to work under various weather conditions. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. High school diploma and one year of work experience as general labor or maintenance person. Comparable training and experience may substitute for the required high school diploma. Possession of a valid state of Florida driver’s license with a favorable driving record.
