SUMMARY Keeps the district's school buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Follows his/her own cleaning schedule for areas assigned within time and frequency requirements provided.Knows and understands individual work schedules for assigned areas.Knows and has a basic understanding of chemicals, equipment and processes used in individual cleaning schedule.Actively participates in all training provided by Head Custodian, Custodial Supervisor, and Coordinator for Maintenance operations or designee.Maintains positive working relationships with all staff and students.Follows proper safety procedures in the use of chemicals, equipment and procedures.Promotes individual safety, proper safety procedures and safe working environment for all employees and students.Reports to Head Custodian any possible safety hazards in assigned work areas.Daily inspects all assigned work areas for individual quality control.Informs Head Custodian of supplies and equipment needed to maintain predetermined individual inventory levels.Keeps personal custodial closet(s) and equipment safe, clean, neat and orderly.Reports any building grounds problems to Head Custodian immediately.Performs minor maintenance, within individual knowledge and skill level, as directed by Head Custodian.Performs building security tasks as directed by Head Custodian, such as locking and unlocking of doors and windows.Performs grounds keeping tasks as directed by Head Custodian, such as trimming grass and shrubs, watering campus grass, picking up trash and litter from campus and emptying campus trash cans.Follows procedures as outlined in the Custodial Handbook, when performing duties and responsibilities.Wears only custodial uniforms provided by G.I.S.D.Perform other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
