Coordinates, and implements departmental policies, procedures, programs, and activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate security resource persons at campuses.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations. All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and computer security regulations.Maintains a safe and secure learning and working environment for students and staff at school sites.Lieutenant for Security Services - Level III will be utilized as a crime deterrent and as a crime prevention function.Coordinates and supervises safety and security programs and functions affecting the safety, security and emergency preparedness of students, faculty, staff, visitors, district, at campus level.Supervises all Security Resource Persons and sergeants’ duties to ensure the policies and procedures of the district are being enforced in a competent and professional manner.Performs periodic checks of all security resource person employees to ensure they are present, in the proper uniform, and perform duties as assigned.Respond to all calls for assistance from security services department staff and take appropriate action.Assists security service resource sergeants and security resource personnel in the investigation and documentation of incidents requiring security intervention.Oversees the patrol of district sites where security resource personnel are not assigned to ensure safety policies of the district are being observed.Provides counsel and instruction to security resource sergeants and security resource personnel to improve overall performance. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all districts, state, and federal security regulations.Maintains a professional appearance and serves as a role model for all GISD security services personnel.Exercises dependability, punctuality, positive attitude and reliability in the performance of duties. Exercises tact and uniformity when dealing with subordinates. Utilize materials, equipment, and time wisely.Reports any usual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems to the Physical Plant Department.Checks all vehicles entering facilities for proper vehicle registration, signs in vehicle as required, and maintains daily vehicle registration log.Directs all visitors to the front office.Stops any act of violence or any violation of school or district rules and regulations committed in their presence or if they are notified of the violation at the time, it is being committed.May and will detain and escort students and adults to a higher authority for action to be taken on any violation of school or district rules and school regulations or a criminal act.Patrols all areas of their prospective school sites and be on an ever-constant state of readiness to ensure that all violators of the law and school regulations are prevented before they occur.Stops any violations as soon as possible after it has begun.Patrols faculty and student parking areas.Patrols high-risk areas as assigned.Responds to and secures all student altercations and emergency situations.Maintains a daily security officer activities log.Prepare incident reports on all criminal or disruptive incidents which may occur.Performs on campus traffic control during peak periods of traffic flow.Required to be present at extracurricular activities such as sports events, band concerts, car shows, bonfires, etc., at their school sites when needed (Districtwide).Assists with the compliance of the Safe School Plan.Identifies and reports hazardous issues via the sites work order procedure.Forwards the Smartfinders absence confirmation to the Coordinator for Security Services, Departmental Specialist, and Campus Administrator.Able to work extra duty hours with minimal notice.Attendance at the work site is required to meet the essential functions of the job.Immediately reports all unusual circumstances or emergencies to the district coordinator of security services and his/her designee.Help plan and coordinate security coverage at all campus level activities and special school events upon approval of district coordinator of security services and his/her/designee.Assumes responsibility in accounting of radio, vehicle, and all other district owned security services equipment on a periodic basis as needed.Reviews and approves all incident reports submitted by security resource persons that occur on district property and assigned school campus and are submitted to the district coordinator of security services and or his/her designee for approval.Provides input to districts security services supervisor and coordinator of security services and his/her designee for employee evaluation purposes of the security resource persons assigned to their school campus.Participate in planning, formulating and implementation of the School Safety Plan for their assigned campus.Participates as an active member of the campus threat assessment team.Enforces Code Inspection at their assigned campus as per New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s Office.Knowledge and understanding of operating all kinds of office machines, computers, copy machines, printers, scanners, etc.Knowledge and understanding of security services incident reporting system.Knowledge and understanding of the use and applications of the district PowerSchool software.Effectively demonstrate knowledge and skills on all technology software and its critical applications.Supervises and guides subordinate staff in the performance of their duties.Assists with shift briefings, training, and performance evaluations.Handles personnel issues and investigating allegations of misconduct.Educates staff about regulatory changes and new security technology or methods.Prepare reports, maintain logs, and ensure the upkeep of departmental records.Cooperates with school district administration and leadership team, legal and law enforcement stakeholders and testifying in court as required.Performs the duties of a security resource supervisor and assists with special projects.Reviews security documents and conduct inspections of personnel and equipment.Enforces strict adherence to district policies and procedures.Participates in community activities and public presentationsParticipates in professional development activities as required by the security services department.Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, support district/departmental goals.Maintains a professional code of ethics.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the supervision of security resource personnel assigned to their campus to include enforcing, local, state, and federal law and upholding district policy and procedures to include directives and standards.
