Assist and support teachers of students with disabilities in the areas of behavior, autism, assistive technology and/or instructional strategies.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Complies with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces department/unit procedures, administrative directives and state statutes concerning the confidentiality of all staff information.All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and computer security regulations.Provide training, guidance, assistance, and classroom support for teachers in the following areas: the implementation of student IEP’s in assigned area(s) of responsibility;the use of various instructional methodologies;the acquisition and appropriate use of specialized curriculums, software programs, materials and equipment, as necessary and appropriate;the acquisition and appropriate use of instructional assistive technology services and devices when necessary for individual students;the design and arrangement of the physical classroom environment to enhance student achievement;the development of compliant IEP’s;the use of the district’s computerized IEP program;the interpretation and instructional implications of assessment data;issues unique to special education teachers in the NMPED teacher evaluation system.Provide regular reports to the Director of Special Education for Instruction & Homebound regarding training, status of special education programs, student outcomes and support provided to campus teachers and staff.Maintain positive and effective relationships with teachers, administrators, and other campus personnel.Maintain positive and effective relationships with special education related services personnel.Maintain positive and effective relationships with special education clerical staff.Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education for Instruction & Homebound.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
