What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pathologist Assistant position at Gadsden Regional Medical Center?
Provides anatomic pathology services under direction and supervision of a pathologist. Interacts with pathologists and pathology residents; contributes to overall efficiency of laboratory or pathology practice in cost effective manner by performing a variety of tasks consisting primarily of ensuring the proper treatment of specimens entering the histology laboratory. This position requires competence in specimen grossing, frozen sections, and use of the EMR. May serve as general supervisor if designated or needed.
High school graduate or GED required.
Preferred one year full -time as a prosector under the direct supervision of a Pathologist. Must have interpersonal skills to interact with pathologist, physicians, and departments within hospital. On the job training in coroner's office, autopsy assistant, etc. acceptable.
