The Orthopedic Care Coordinator oversees nursing staff and daily operations to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves coordinating clinical and administrative functions, developing and implementing nursing policies, and fostering staff development to achieve optimal outcomes. The Orthopedic Coordinator ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, promotes a positive work environment, and supports organizational goals through effective leadership and collaboration.
Essential Functions
- Oversees daily operations of nursing services, ensuring that patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and implements nursing policies, procedures, and best practices to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and address clinical and operational challenges and maintain the joint care program.
- Monitors and evaluates patient care quality and safety, identifying and addressing issues promptly to maintain high standards.
- Conducts staff training, orientation, and performance evaluations, fostering professional growth and development.
- Reviews available orthopedic volume, quality data, and process improvements
- Shared organizational goals for persistent and sustained improvement efforts, develop an improvement implementation plan, and coordinate the patient plan of care.
- Demonstrates responsible decision-making in planning, providing, and delegating care based on patient assessments and team capabilities.
- Maintains CMS mandatory guidelines and updates quality data in a timely manner, and in compliance with organizational and regulatory guidelines.
- Delegates tasks and duties appropriately to members of the healthcare team, ensuring accountability and competence.
- Manages Total Joint Education preoperatively and postoperatively for the patient undergoing total joint replacement procedures.
- Promotes effective screening and care plan management for patients preoperatively and postoperatively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree In Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree or higher In Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- 2-4 years of clinical nursing experience required
- 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or charge nurse role preferred
- Orthopedic experience preferred
