Team SummaryThe Supply Chain team at the Plant handles the planning of raw materials, procuring of direct and indirect goods and services, and both the inbound and finished goods logistics. They are integral to the successful operations and work closely with the Plant and the broader Integrated Supply Chain (“ISC”) team of Category Managers and Leaders for Direct materials, Indirect Capital and Manufacturing Goods & Services, and Transportation. The Associate Buyer reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager who has overall Procurement responsibilities at the Plant.Job SummaryWe are looking for an Associate Buyer who will be responsible for supporting the Gainesville and New Columbia plant initiatives with respect to Procurement. This position will support the sourcing of goods and services and contribute to obtaining optimal cost while ensuring safe operations and highest quality. The Associate Buyer will update purchase order data in the procurement system(s), and follow-up with suppliers. This role will support the effort to meet specified KPI's for PO management practices, Strategic sourcing where applicable, and will review supplier metrics to ensure suppliers meet qualification standards.Essential Duties
- Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all purchases are made consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Review requisitions, obtain quotes, and convert requisitions into purchase orders.
- Submit purchase orders to suppliers and obtain order confirmation; upon receiving confirmations, update PO appropriately
- Collaborate with maintenance to understand PO delivery date needs and update POs
- accordingly.
- Support Senior Buyer by driving service improvements through collaboration and strong vendor relationships.
- Update Purchase Order data in procurement system(s) including but not limited to: due dates, pricing, quantity, overall purchase order descriptions, scope of work and vendor details.
- Communicate requirements, manage documents and ensure compliance for new and approved contractors
- Work directly with suppliers to initiate the qualification process
- Ensure supplier responsiveness to drive performance improvement, as required.
- Identify cost saving opportunities using competitive bidding, negotiations, and service improvements.
- Actively participate in plant teams to gain an understanding of the needs of the plant operations, while participating in a positive manner to implement, support, monitor and achieve plant metrics and goals.
- Expedite materials and services to meet Plant’s requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in field of supply chain, business, science or engineering preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in procurement or related function Preferred
- Familiarity with standard Procurement concepts, practices and procedures. Preferred
- Required on-site 5 days a week
- Ability to travel 1 week a month to either New Columbia, PA or Gainesville, TX, whichever one is not the permanent location
- Strong planning, prioritization, organizational and reporting skills
- Proven work history that demonstrates successful accomplishments of working collaboratively with others
- Independent analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience with related procurement software systems (PeopleSoft, Carta, Coupa, Maximo, SAP etc.)
- Familiar with vendor networks applicable to GAF’s supply needs.
- Google Suite proficiency
- Advanced communication skills
