Specialized programming is a program intended to meet the needs of students with autism or students with underlying characteristics similar to students with autism. Students who attend the program typically need and respond to visual and physical structure. These structures are implemented to support the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, sensory and communication needs of the student. Interventions are provided utilizing the strengths of the student and are intended to expand the restricted patterns of behaviors, interests, and activities. High levels of visuals and predictability are consistently implemented throughout the school day to ensure each student has access to and makes progress in the grade-level core content standards within the general education environment and when necessary, in a small-group setting.
Intervention Specialist K-12 licensure required. Alternative licenses considered.
