Job Description
Kamma Hospitality is seeking Seasonal Front of House Staff for Gai Noi, our award-winning concept that has been recognized by the New York Times as a Top 50 Restaurant in the United States for 2023. The expected term of service for this seasonal role is from April through September of 2025. Team members hired on a seasonal basis that demonstrate excellence in conduct and service may be offered a permanent role.
All Front of House Staff are cross-trained in all positions of service, including Seasonal team members. Applicants must be 18 . All Front of House Staff will rotate between Host, Food Runner, Busser, Server, Bartender, and Event Server roles as assigned on a per-shift basis.
At Gai Noi, we proudly embrace our Southeast Asian heritage and serve delicious family-style Laotian-American cuisine in a fast casual, high-energy setting. The restaurant is located in a historic block of Loring Park. Between the two floors, rooftop patio, and event spaces, there are over 300 seats in the building.
Gai Noi operates on a service charge model to align job expectations and promote equity across the entire Front of House team. In lieu of a tipping model, an 18% service charge is applied on all dine-in guests’ checks. 100% of revenues collected from the service charge for any given shift is distributed to Front of House staff who worked within the shift as additional wages, in addition to the base hourly rate of $15.97, regardless of their assigned role for the shift. In 2024, the average hourly rate for most Front of House staff was between $36 to $38 per hour, inclusive of both the base hourly wage and service charge payouts/event service gratuities.
General Responsibilities:
- Setup of the restaurant for service
- Side work including but not limited to: proofing dishware and silverware, restocking caddies, restocking takeout equipment, etc.
- Clearing and sanitizing of tables
- Breakdown of the restaurant after service
- Assisting with general cleanliness of the restaurant
- Memorization of the menu and each item's ingredients and associated dietary restrictions
- Thorough understanding of Southeast Asian food culture and family-style dining
- Attendance of all meetings and training sessions as required
Roles:
- Host: welcoming guests to the space, determining their seating needs/preferences, use of Tock software to seat guests and add guests to the waitlist during peak hours, leading guests to their table, clearing and turning over tables, and other duties as assigned
- Food Runner: accurately deliver food to the correct tables, possession of menu knowledge to function as quality control as orders are fulfilled by the kitchen, communicating with FOH/BOH staff and guests as needed to resolve errors, and other duties as assigned
- Busser: assist all service staff by proofing plateware and silverware, continuous performance of side work throughout service, running dishware to and from the dishroom as needed for service, and other wait assisting duties as assigned
- Server: execute Kamma Hospitality's Steps of Service with every guest party, possession of extensive food and beverage knowledge to address guest inquiries, entry of food/beverage orders on Toast handheld POS devices, conflict resolution skills to address issues as needed, and other duties as assigned
- Bartender: dispensing cocktails/beer/wine through the draft system, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bars, provide full service to guests seated at the bar, production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as ordered by guests seated at tables, accurate usage and entry of the cash drawer, and other duties as assigned
- Event Server: coordinate with the Event Coordinator in providing world-class service in combination with stellar food and beverage knowledge to guest parties in order to provide a premium experience. This role is reserved for the most capable and distinguished members of the team, demonstrated through continued service excellence. A 21% automatic gratuity is applied to private event service.
Qualifications:
- 18 years old
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to provide quality service and provide accurate information

- Reliable transportation
- Ability to consistently lift up to 40lb
- Ability to traverse a large multilevel space with stairs on foot for an extended period of time
- Ability to make dynamic decisions in service of our valued guests to ensure maximum satisfaction
- Ability to be resourceful and make use of all available resources
- Service industry experience is required
