GAINSCO is seeking a dedicated and experienced High Exposure Claims Adjuster to join our Home Office High Exposure Claims Unit. This role is essential in evaluating multi-state claims files involving serious loss and extra-contractual exposures, ensuring full resolution, and advancing our company's objectives.
What does a High Exposure Claims Adjuster do at GAINSCO?
- Review, evaluate, and settle assigned claim files with serious and large loss exposures. Pursue critical claim handling actions including same-day contact, comparative negligence analysis, early settlement offers, and timely responses to time limit demands..
- Handle litigated claim files, exposures, and related systems within established guidelines. Identify and implement effective defense strategies and manage defense budgets. Work effectively with attorneys to settle litigated claims in multiple states.
- Review assigned claim files for accuracy, quality, and identification of specific loss indicators. Respond positively to performance corrections and management direction.
- Ensures adherence to Company policies and procedures by reviewing assigned Claim files for accuracy, quality, and identification of various specific loss indicators; and responding positively to performance corrections and management direction.
- Proactively communicate with staff, management, and key personnel in various departments. Respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
What is required?
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Licenses/ Certifications:
- To perform the essential functions of this job an active Texas or Florida Adjuster License will be required to comply with state and GAINSCO requirements.
- Upon hire, additional license(s) may be required. If that is the case, license(s) must be obtained.
- All licenses must be maintained in accordance with state requirements.
- Professional Insurance and/or Claims Designations are a plus.
Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in property damage and bodily injury claims, with at least 5 years of casualty experience is required.
- Prior litigation experience with expertise in handling high exposure or serious injury claims and claims with extra-contractual exposure is required.
- Knowledge of automobile damage, mechanics of bodily injury, medical terminology, settlement negotiations, and insurance case law.
- Appropriate jurisdictional experience required, with preference for experience in TX and FL.
- Experience working with E&O and/or Reinsurance Carriers a plus.
- Working knowledge of Guidewire software preferred.
- Knowledge of Image Right, AS400, is preferred.

- Build rapport with other Team Members and Adjusters.
- Exercise objective judgment and critical decision-making skills.
- Use logic, reasoning, and experience to identify approaches and solutions to problems.
- Must possess effective negotiating skills and multi-tasking abilities within a paperless work environment.
- Must possess strong leadership, mentoring and training abilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
