The ideal Inventory Control Intern has a basic understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and has been exposed to VSM, Workplace organization 6S, Cycle time, Takt time, and Time studies. Has the ability to create production layouts, define and improve processes, increase productivity, estimate production costs, evaluate make vs buy decisions, evaluate capital equipment needs, and provide justification for capital purchases. Also has a general understanding of the operational flow of ERP (preferably Infor Visual ERP), can apply the knowledge to develop and maintain the Part Masters, Bill of Materials (BOM), routings, and corresponding modules that capture and improve the production processes with the required granularity. They will participate and lead in product life cycle maintenance across multiple product lines.

Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- Working toward a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, management science of operation, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Interest in manufacturing and its processes
- Experience in manufacturing product data
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Moderate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational, time-management skills, and effective communication skills
- Strong team player skills, self-starter, and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce
A typical day may include:
- Develop a streamlined process for mid-year and end-of-year inventories
- Implement part labeling process and lead Kaizen events to tackle key departments
- Use Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to help create VSM, Workplace organization 6S, calculate cycle time, calculate takt time, and perform time studies
- Collaborate with different departments to evaluate and document the operational processes and scenarios to identify problems and requirements, develop strategies, build solutions, and bridge the gaps where applies
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels to ensure availability and optimal stock.
- Participate in the development and implementation of inventory control systems and procedures.
- Support in conducting physical inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Salary for New York City Based Applicants: $20.00 - $25.00 hourly (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and in keeping with local legislation).
