Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mid-Level Human Resources Specialist to support critical HR functions in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with a talented team committed to operational excellence and employee success. The HR Specialist will play a key role in recruitment, employee relations, compliance, policy administration, and HR operations, ensuring the seamless execution of human resources initiatives while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
Compensation Minimum: $95,000
Compensation Maximum: $105,000
Skills / Experience Required
Key Responsibilities and experience needed for the Human Resources Specialist:
- Current Active Secret clearance
- 3 to 10 years of demonstrated/practical hands-on experience in a Human Resource role
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, web-based applications and HR-related system
- Perform HR generalist duties, working closely with the HR team to support employee lifecycle processes
- Lead and support new hire orientation, training programs, and policy implementation
- Manage full-cycle recruiting, including screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution
- Assist with payroll administration and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Maintain employee files and ensure 100% compliance with HR policies and regulations
- Respond to HR-related inquiries from employees and managers, providing timely and accurate support
- Generate and analyze HR compliance reports and complete annual governmental reporting
- Stay up to date on federal and state employment laws, ensuring HR policies remain compliant
- Answer phone calls and support administrative HR tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in government contracting or federal programs
- Knowledge of federal HR regulations, including FMLA, FLSA, and EEO compliance
Education / Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; however, 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute of required experience OR an associate degree plus 4 years' work experience may be substituted by a bachelor's degree
- A master’s degree (MA/MS) is preferred; however, a bachelor's degree plus 8 years' work experience may be substituted for a master’s degree OR 12 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in place of a master’s degree
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
